Mary Grant - President

Mary Grant is a co-director and founder of McTaggart Grant Lawyers, an agile and boutique law firm providing premium corporate and commercial legal services on the Gold Coast.  Mary is an accomplished corporate and business lawyer and a key legal advisor to a range of local and national businesses.

Mary is passionate about and enjoys guiding early-stage and high-growth businesses from inception to maturity, having acted for start-ups, investors, founders and family businesses as well as SMEs, shareholders, directors, partnerships and listed companies.

Originally a country girl from Toowoomba, Mary moved to the Gold Coast over 10 years ago to study at Bond University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and International Relations (Business).

Mary believes given the rapid growth and transformation of our City, it is integral to our business community to maintain a platform like the YP to bring together like-minded individuals who are passionate about shaping the future of our City and to connect the City leaders of today with the aspiring leaders of tomorrow.

Martin Garred - Vice-President

Martin Garred is a town planner and Director of Civity; a company that delivers progressive city advisory and planning strategy services. The firm utilises its millennial edge, assisted by creativity and innovation in all facets of urban and regional planning policy, to offer clients a fresh approach to strategic and statutory town planning.

Through his work at Civity, Martin encourages and supports lateral and progressive thinking - inspiring creative solutions to urban growth challenges and producing evidence-based policy.

Originally from Brisbane, Martin moved to the Gold Coast over ten years ago, after graduating from the Queensland University of Technology with a Bachelor of Urban Development (Urban and Regional Planning). 

Matthew Dodds - Treasurer

Matt is a business advisory services and taxation accountant at PKF Gold Coast, one of the largest firms on the coast and a member of the global accountancy network of PKF International Limited.

Born, raised and educated on the Coast, Matt is passionate about working towards solving the challenges surrounding businesses and professionals on the Gold Coast and is enlivened through the possibilities of all our growing city has to offer.

Cleopatra Jackson - Secretary

Cleopatra is a solicitor at Cronin Miller Litigation, a boutique law firm in the heart of the Gold Coast specializing in commercial litigation. She works closely with business owners and corporations to achieve efficient and practical outcomes for their individual commercial needs. 

As a young professional on the Gold Coast, she enjoys having a corporate career and a coastal lifestyle. Cleopatra moved to the Gold Coast to studied a Bachelor of Laws and Master of Laws at Bond University and has called the Gold Coast home ever since. 

At the height of the pandemic, Cleopatra worked closely with local business owners. She provided strategic advice regarding the ever changing legislative and regulatory framework in order to keep local businesses operational during the pandemic. Assisting business during that uncertain time was essential to her practice and she has since seen those same businesses innovate and grow into new markets.

Cleopatra is impassioned about supporting local businesses and advocating for growth and development on the Gold Coast.

Ania Salehirad

Ania Salehirad is a Solicitor at IP Partnership, a boutique legal and advisory firm specialising in Franchising, Intellectual Property and commercial law. Ania completed her Master of Business Administration (MBA), Juris Doctor (JD) and Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (GDLP) at Bond University.  As a Canadian native who now calls Gold Coast home, Ania is passionate about driving innovation and growth that is unique to Gold Coast’s identity.

Carla Tooma

Carla Tooma is a Presenter, MC, Journalist and Radio Announcer. Seen and heard by thousands daily, Carla delivers the latest scoop on and 1029 Hot Tomato. The multi-skilled media personality covers everything from current affairs and public interest stories, through to lifestyle and A-list red carpet events.

She is also one of the most sought after MC’s in South East Queensland, regularly hosting major events across the region. With an approachable style and natural ability to connect with audiences, Carla is adept at hosting panel discussions with city leaders at business functions, as she is chatting beauty tips with influencers in front of thousands of screaming fans.

As a born and bred Gold Coaster, Carla is driven by creating more job opportunities for locals and growing and strengthening the Coast’s cultural amenities and offerings.

Jacqueline Bojanowski

Jacqueline is a Senior Account Manager at leading PR and communications agency, Ruby Communications. As the Gold Coast’s largest, full-service agency Jacqueline has had the opportunity to work with some of the City’s most recognised brands and organisations. With a strong background in retail, lifestyle and events, Jacqueline prides herself on consistently delivering proven results for clients that move the needle, whether that be through profiling opportunities, driving awareness or delivery of high-profile events.

James Fulton-Kennedy

James is an experienced, dual-degree qualified Financial Planner. Prior to joining Morgans, James worked within the NAB Financial Planning network on the Gold Coast. In 2017, James was recognised as being in the top 1 per cent of performers within the National Australia Banks' 35,000 employees. James has also completed the CFP® Certification program, which is the highest designation in financial planning for professional competency, ethics and professional practice standards.

Lauren Thompson

Lauren is the Head of Marketing at the Gold Coast’s very own SWISH Sales Coaching, known as the #1 Ethical Online Sales Training Company in the World who train high-profile of clients such as Mercedes Benz, American Express and Westpac Private Banking, and is fortunate to have secured the backing of three Shark Tank investors.

Lauren has a passion for scaling Gold Coast businesses, whether SME or enterprise, through advanced marketing, communications & public relations strategies. Holding a double degree in Business [Marketing] and Public Relations & Communications, her diverse skills portfolio includes social media, content creation, graphic and website design, public relations, and event management.

Joshua Lumley

Josh is the founder and CEO of prmpt. a Research & Development (R&D) consulting firm on the Gold Coast that works with start-ups and Australian companies to access the R&D Tax Incentive and government grants. Josh is the former Chair of the Griffith Business School Alumni Advisory Group and a Co-Founder of the Gold Coast SUNS Captain’s Club, a coterie group created to bring together local Gold Coasters and professionals via the SUNS AFL team.
Josh moved to the Gold Coast in 2010 for its unique lifestyle and is driven to support local businesses by providing a forum to encourage growth and innovation here in the city.

Rosie Ball

Rosie is an Account Manager at one of Australia’s longest established and most trusted firms, Promedia Public Relations. Since 1983, the firm has delivered effective communications strategies for hundreds of clients across a variety of business, government and community sectors. With a strong background in journalism, Rosie works on media campaigns for a diverse portfolio of clients including leading ASX-listed companies and private organisations across the country. Before joining Promedia, Rosie was a journalist at the Gold Coast Bulletin and shed light on some the city’s biggest stories, issues and events. She has also interviewed some of Australia’s biggest names, like Camilla Franks, Bec + Bridge and Rachel Griffiths.

After moving to the Coast in 1996, and studying at Emmanuel College and Griffith University, Rosie is a fierce advocate for young professionals on the Coast. She is excited about the growing opportunities the city has to offer and is looking forward to working with city leaders to ensure post-COVID-19 Gold Coast is better than before.
